Rose-scented Pelargonium is a densely branched, erect shrub with a height of up to 1.3 m and a spread of 1 m. Geranium has hairy stems that are herbaceous when young but turn woody as they mature. The leaves are strongly scented of roses and have numerous glandular hairs.

- Other plant parts are used to treat skin wounds, bruises, pimples, eczema, ringworms, and hemorrhoids as antiseptics, anti-inflammatory, and astringents.
- Premenstrual and menopausal problems, nausea, tonsils, diarrhea, rheumatism, and poor circulation are treated with herbal concoctions made from leaves or extracted oils.
- Rose geranium oil is applied to the skin to treat nerve pain (neuropathy), particularly pain caused by shingles. Some people apply it to their skin as an astringent to tighten and lighten it.
