Parijata is known as a night-jasmine that has fragrant flowers.
Parijata flowers have seven to eight petals arranged on an orangish-red stem.
According to Srimad Bhagavatam, Parijata is a heavenly tree brought to earth by Lord Krishna.
These beautiful flowers are used in many spiritual activities.
Parijata tree is usually 10-15 feet tall and is also known as Coral Jasmine Tree.
It is referred as Kalpa Vriksha or Kalpa Taru: wish-fulfilling desire tree.
It is interesting to note that the Parijata tree blooms at night and the flowers fall on the ground by themselves, making it the only flower that can be offered to the deities for worship after picking them from the ground.
The Parijata tree has many medicinal properties and can be used as a home remedy for a number of diseases.
Its flowers are good for heart, its leaves are mixed with honey to cure cough and various skin diseases.
It is also used for the diagnosis of piles.
